Final Pre-Race Thoughts
With the nasty conditions during last year’s LA Marathon still fresh in everyone’s memory, Facebook, Twitter and running email groups have been all abuzz about the weather for tomorrow’s marathon. All week, the forecast had been calling for a wet, cool and windy weekend. For today at least, the weatherpeople were right. And that forecast doesn’t seem to be changing much for tomorrow morning – the only question really is how wet, cool and windy it will be. As of now, it’s calling for off-and-on rain, temps in the high 40s and a decent headwind.
I’d obviously prefer other weather conditions, but I’ve done this enough to know that I can race (and race well) in the rain (see, especially, Pasadena Half Marathon 2011, Ironman Lake Placid 2008 and Harriman Half Ironman 2007).
And there’s absolutely no point in worrying about the weather, so I’ll just make sure I’ve got warm, dry clothes for before and after the race and concentrate on doing my job during it.

And with that, here we go!
