Professional Event Photos
I almost never order the professional photos from my races. Spending $15+ for a 5×7 is pretty insane to me. I ordered them from my first two Ironmans, but the first time, well that was my first Ironman and the second time around, they took a few good ones – those are in this blog post (I think the one in the middle of the post of me running in the rain with my head down is great), but frankly I think some of the ones my family took (for example the one of me from behind as I’m about to cross the finish line) are as good as the professional ones. Also, at the Ironman races you generally get sick swim start photos included with the package and I love those photos:
But most of the time the professional photos just suck. For example, what’s good about these from the L.A. Marathon?? (To view them you have to put in my last name: “Spector” and my bib number: “3673”). The ones Elizabeth took and the ones I took are much better. (You can see them here).
BUT, there is always an exception. The photos from Oceanside are available to view online. And there are some really good ones. The one of me running came out great and the progression of me crossing the finish are really fun (if I don’t say so myself!) By the way, it should be obvious, but a few of those photos aren’t of me. I have no idea how they confused me for the big dude in the QR wetsuit or other guy in the M-Dot brand wetsuit, but whatever.
The photos might be good, but I still don’t see myself spending $15.95 for a 5×7…
