Hmmm…

As I mentioned the other week, I signed up for the Angeles Crest 100. I ran my qualification race, filled out the application and paid my money. Problem is, I’m not sure I’m actually in. I haven’t received any confirmation and the race director hasn’t responded to the two emails I sent him. Normally, I probably wouldn’t worry, but there are extenuating circumstances here. You see, last year’s race was cancelled pretty close to last minute because the Station Fire was in the process of ravaging a lot of the Angeles National Forest. So all 2009 registered runners have automatic entries into the 2010 race. Also, I’ve heard that the trails in the Angeles Forest are still an awful mess (lots of them are still closed), so there are rumors going around about whether the race can happen at all. I went to the website the other day and noticed that the registration link was replaced with a note saying “THE RACE IS FULL”. But there’s no list of registered runners. Finally, I’m just freaking out because it’s my first 100. In summary, I’m not 100% sure the race will happen and even if it does, it might have been full even before I registered.

Frustrating. Thankfully, I have plenty of time to plan and do have some alternatives in mind, but I’d still like to clear this up one way or another ASAP.

In other news, it’s now been over two weeks since I’ve tried any running (besides my drills). And it’s been much longer than that since I’ve done any serious running. The drills and exercises are going well and my plan is to get out for a short run this weekend. Fingers crossed.

And finally, I did some yoga today. First time in about two years. One nice perk of the new job is free yoga at the on-site gym every Thursday at noon. (Yes, there’s a gym, complete with 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, some light dumbbells and other stuff like medicine balls and jumpropes!) It was a little weird to be doing yoga with new colleagues, but after a few seconds, I got over that. One thing is for sure: I’m very tight – especially through my hips. Go Yoga!

Free yoga, very nice. Does the race have a fan site on facebook? If so, maybe you can find some information there or find others who have signed up. Hope you find out soon.

Smooth legs and now yoga too?? Haha…I kid. Actually, the last time I did yoga (it’s been a couple of years) it kicked my rear end pretty good. Always told myself I’d do it again but stars never really aligned themselves (read: I never went back).

Good luck with AC Josh. Hope it happens to ya, but if not, there are plenty of other good 100-mile CA races. Perhaps this?:

I really hope your run this weekend went well. I also hope you find out soon if you made it into the 100.

You can always make it over to Utah for our Wasatch Back 100. We would love to have you over here!
