Monthly Summary – September 2008

Here’s September 2008:

Swim: 17,396 yards
Cycling (outdoors): 74.2 miles
Cycling (indoors): 4:48 (hours)
Run: 38.2 miles
Strength Training/Yoga: 7 sessions

Approximate monthly total training/racing time: 25:30 (hours)

Weight: 162 pounds

This was a good month, I guess. It has taken me a while to stop comparing September 2008 to September 2007 and to accept the fact that the fall isn’t going to be the training/racing time that I’d expected. I’m there now, but still hoping that I can start up again in six or eight weeks. In the meantime, with advice from Coach John, I’ve set up a training schedule that hopefully is enough to keep me from going crazy and maintain some of my fitness base while still allowing myself recovery and healing time. Essentially, each week it’s two short swims, three short bricks and two or three strength sessions, with a day or two off in between. It works out to about five hours of training a week. I’m also spending a lot of time stretching and using the TriggerPoint stuff. I’m still seeing the ART guy once or twice a week, for now. I’m committed to make this work and get back and be ready for 2009.

I’ve now been blogging for over two years. My first posts were on September 21, 2006. Since then, I’ve written over 360 posts. Thanks for sticking around!
