Monthly Summary – April
Here’s April 2008:
Swim: 24,300 yards
Cycling (outdoors): 129.2 miles
Cycling (indoors): 9:32 (hours)
Run: 28.45 miles
Strength Training/Yoga: 7 sessions
Approximate monthly total training/racing time: 34 hours
Weight: 165 pounds
All things considered this was a fine training month. It certainly didn’t feel like an Ironman training month, but I’m pretty much able to accept that right now.
As I’ve expressed ad naseum, I’m a bit frustrated these days. I am spending a lot of time reflecting on why I race and what I want from my future of training and racing (there will obviously be a post on the blog for that at some point soon). I am also spending too much time thinking about my body and learning how bones and joints and muscle and other soft tissue work and sometimes, don’t work. On the bright side, I did have a kick-ass massage last night and am feeling better today. The massage therapist spent a full hour working on the right half of my body between my waist and my calf. It hurt like a mother– and was awesome. He concentrated on breaking up all the scar tissue that’s been building up around my SI joint, piriformis muscle and IT band. I’m going back for another round next week. I do wonder how things might have been different if I’d done this in January instead of May, but at this point there’s nothing that can be done about that.
May, here I come. Forging ahead.
