NEW BIKE!
I picked up the bike today and it is awesome. I love it. Not that I’ve been on it for more than a few seconds on the trainer at Jackrabbit, but it looks incredible, is feather light and just plain makes me think “fast”! I couldn’t really get a good picture, but the pictures below ought to give you some idea of what I’m working with here. Obviously, it still needs a computer, pedals and water bottle cages.
This morning when my alarm went off at 6:40, I felt horrible. I defintely wasn’t surprised, given how much trouble I had falling asleep, how late I was up and how poorly I felt last night. Instead of getting up and forcing myself do my training, I decided immediately that I was going right back to sleep and taking at least the morning off work. I also figured I would skip my scheduled 1:20 run today. I almost never take sick days – I probably average less than one per year – but given my mood the last few days and the little bit of sleep from last night, I couldn’t imagine what work would have been like if I’d gone in on time. So, I slept until about 10:30 and had a nice relaxing morning, which mainly consisted of breakfast, the paper and a long walk with Charlie. The morning was beautiful – sunny and warm, even when compared to the recent warmth we’ve been having. When I got back from walking Charlie, I was feeling better, not great, but better – and since the weather was so nice, I convinced myself that I was well enough to try going for my run. My run started OK, but I could tell right away that my heart rate was elevated. So I did it, 40 minutes out and 40 back. I ran more slowly than I normally would have and felt “heavier” than normal. I finished really happy that I did it. After getting home, I actually got into a good mood!
My fingers are crossed for a good night’s sleep tonight.
