Post-turkey aches
Last night, sometime before dinner, my stomach really started aching. Actually, it may have even started pretty much right after my run. It was pretty bad, and hasn’t gotten much better. I won’t go into too much detail – but it’s bloated/gassy/pain. It’s worst immediately after I eat anything, then slowly goes away and I get hungry (or my brain wants to eat) and then it starts up again. I can’t say it stopped me from stuffing myself silly with turkey and all the trimmings last night. For someone who likes to eat as much as I do and whose day normally revolves around eating, this stinks!
Even though my stomach didn’t feel very good, I wanted to try to get in my scheduled workouts, a swim and strength training. I went to the East Hampton Y. The pool there is great – it’s big (6 wide lanes) and the pool area has windows on two sides. The natural light it nice, especially since I’m used to swimming in a basement. My swim was OK. I took it pretty easy and my stomach actually didn’t bother me too much. I cut the swim a little shorter than I would have normally, but I still swam for a half hour. After swimming, I did the best strength training session I could, given the eqiupment available at the Y. The equipment at the Y isn’t bad, it’s just a little old. I wouldn’t want to lift there on a regular basis, but for the few workouts I do there a year, it’s totally fine.
