It’s official

Assaf and I went to the Expo and picked up our race packets today. My bib number is 5686. I’m ready as it gets. The Expo was pretty neat – it’s remarkable what a business marathons and fitness are today. The Expo was huge – every big label of fitness clothes had a big booth there (except Nike, now that I think about it; interesting), and all of the accessory and nutrition companies and some stores as well as tons of other US and international marathons. It was a bit overwhelming. I was in the mood to buy stuff, but couldn’t decide what to buy. The official marathon stuff was OK, but didn’t strike me as anything I needed at this point. Assaf and I got hooked up with this special bus, which is pretty exciting. A friend of Assaf’s wife knows a big wig at NY Road Runners. The bus leaves from a different location, which is huge and drops us off at some special VIP breakfast at the race site. It also comes with a special wristband for a special place for a family member at the finish and gives us access to a special post-race tent. Excellent!

This morning I did a 4 mile run with some short speed intervals; the same workout that I did on Tuesday (except today I did laps around Washington Square Park). It felt pretty good. It was cold and windy outside – hopefully raceday will be warmer than that. One thing going for us is that I was running before 8AM and the race doesn’t even start until 10:10. Tomorrow is a day off – rest, stretching, eating, relaxing, icing, eating…

Run – November 2
