AquaGear.com and Aqua Sphere K-180 Goggles
These days I’d be hard-pressed to call myself a “triathlete”. Other than a nice ride with my Dad earlier this month, I haven’t been on my bike in ages. And for a while there, I wasn’t even making it to the pool. I have to admit that I don’t expect to spend very much time on the bike in the coming months, but I definitely want to get in the water on a regular basis. I love swimming for cross-training and with an outdoor 50 meter pool just minutes from my office, I’d be stupid not to spend more time there!
One problem was that I needed new goggles. Goggles that didn’t have scratched lenses and wouldn’t fog up every lap. Easy problem to fix, right? But I kept not fixing it. At least not until I got an email from the friendly folks at AquaGear.com with an invitation to check out their online store and even treat myself to something on the house. I played around on the website looking at all the different types of swim and water exercise equipment (and it took a while because they carry pretty much every piece of equipment you could be looking for) but I knew that what I really needed was a pair of goggles. I picked out a pair and then, a couple days later…
Bam!
Aqua Sphere K-180 goggles arrived at my door. There are a few different styles and colors, but I got the black and red ones with the smoke lens. Since I do all my swimming outdoors under the Southern California sun, tinted lens are a must. Plus they look pretty bad-ass. And, as I’ve learned from cycling, looking good is really at least half the battle.
So far, I’m digging the K-180 goggles. They have the smallest profile of any goggles I’ve ever worn and sit really close around my eye sockets, which I think makes me look a little more like a swimmer and less like a triathlete just enduring swim training. But it’s not only about looks – they seal super well on my face and didn’t leak or fog at all. They also come with two other nose-bridges in case they don’t fit you right out of the box. The lenses are super crisp and clear and even though they’re smaller profile, they have a nice wide field of vision. In other words, so far at least, I’m sold!
I also got a nifty little case to protect my precious new goggles. Hopefully these goggles will last me a while, but if not, I know where to go to get new ones!
Thanks AquaGear.com!
