Guru Crono!
Remember last fall when the rear derailleur on my Crono cracked through less than three days before Ironman Canada? If not, you can read all about it here and here. Everything worked out for the race (everything except my legs during the run that is!), and Guru told me that I could send them back the bike and they would fix the derailleur, inspect the rest of the bike, sand down the paint and re-paint it in the colors and paint scheme I wanted.
I finally sent it back to them in December. When Guru inspected the bike, they found that the fork was in bad shape and ready to crack. In fact, they were a little surprised it hadn’t broken through yet. That would have really really sucked. Other than paying to ship the bike to Guru, paying for the replacement fork (which they gave me a great deal on), they didn’t charge me a penny for the work. That’s customer service.

Anyway, I got it back a few weeks ago and Nir at Bike Improve put it back together. I rode on it a few times on the trainer, but, between traveling, the rain we’ve been having and my run schedule, I hadn’t taken it outside – until today.
Doesn’t my new black and white “Stealth” paint job look sweet?! I even dressed the bike up with race wheels for the photo shoot. (The blue handlebar tape will likely get swapped out for some white tape at some point soon.)
My bike fitness is a little lacking right now (man am I f-ed for Oceanside), but the bike felt awesome. And it was damn fun to be out on my super shiny and clean, “brand new” Crono.
Huge props to Guru for being super responsive to a stressed-out triathlete last August in Penticton and for following through and hooking me up like they did!
