Monthly Summary – January 2014

January was about one thing and one thing only: Brazil 135!  Between my race report and a write-up about our post race adventures and fun, I’ve probably written more than enough here about the race (although, truth be told I do have one more post about it coming soon…). It was an incredible trip with Aaron, I met a ton of great people and I’m really happy with how the race went.

The first two weeks of the month were tapering and final prep for the race, then I did the race and since then, I’ve been recovering, eating, sleeping and trying to get caught back up on “life” stuff. I’ve made it to the gym a few times since the race, got to the pool once (for the first time in a few months) and even went for a short run yesterday. My heavy heavy legs during that run were strong proof that I’m nowhere near recovered. I’ll continue to take it easy and run a little bit here and there for at least another week or so.

Here’s January:

Swim: 700 meters
Cycling (outdoors): 0 miles
Cycling (indoors):  0 (hours)
Run: 210.8 miles
Total Run Elevation Gain: 29,074 feet
Strength Training/Yoga: 5 sessions
Approximate monthly total training/racing time: 51 hours
Weight: mid-150’s

February looks like it’s going to be a busy month, which is fine because it will help force me to ease slowly back into running.
