Tidbits

Last week was the first week in a long long time that I biked more miles than I ran.  Granted it’s not like I’ve been doing a ton of cycling or running recently, and I only got on the bike once, but that one ride was 46 miles compared to 27 miles of running.  Elizabeth and I took the dogs down to San Diego to hang out with my parents and on Sunday morning, my Dad dragged me out for a ride around Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista.  We’ve been getting a fair amount of rain recently, but Sunday morning was great cycling weather – some sun, some clouds, temps in the 50s and low 60s, no wind.  Riding along the coast was great and the roads in Vista had nice wide bike paths.  I also noticed that there are lots and lots of churches in Vista.  My rear end was screaming during the ride, it’s just not used to balancing on a tiny saddle.  But I didn’t forget how to ride – or how to dress.  As I’ve said before, dressing for cycling is so much more sexy than dressing for running.

Also, over the weekend, I got a pair of the new Skechers Go Trail.

You might remember that I really like the Skechers Go Run.  In my initial review of the Go Run, I noted my excitement about the future of Skechers running shoes, especially their trail shoe.  The Go Trail finally came out a few weeks ago (I think) and I got a pair as an early birthday present last weekend.  I’ve only run in them once, but they felt great up and down Westridge on Monday night.  They’re lightweight, flexible, low to the ground and have a 4mm drop.  That’s all I can really say at this point, but as I put more miles on them I’ll get a full review up here.
