Fall is for running
Usually, anyway.
It was a beautiful, beautiful fall weekend here in NYC. Mostly sunny, comfortable temperatures, cool in the mornings. Perfect running weather. Too bad I’m not really running these days and didn’t run outside at all. Enough of the pity party, I know! It just makes me a little wistful to think about it.
I am making a concerted effort to take it very, very easy. I’m not even swimming or cycling a lot. I am trying very hard to concentrate on recovery and healing. And let me tell you – it is not easy. Other than when I was recovering from a big race, this is the first real break I’ve taken in since probably spring 2006. I know I need it. But I certainly don’t want it.
On another note, I’ve decided to drop out of the JFK50. There’s just no way I can get there in time. I’m still not pain-free. And even if I was right now, last year at this time I was already doing 20+ mile runs. No way. I had a great race there last year, I’ll skip it this year and plan for Boston in April. It’s a worthy sacrifice.
