Labor Day Weekend
It’s amazing how quickly things can change. Just a week ago I was pretty seriously worried about the rest of my season. When the pain hit my hip, I really figured I was screwed. Today I’m optimistic. Even after running every day for six straight days, I’m feeling much better than I was before I left for Denver. My foot is still a little achy (but much much better) and my hip feels totally fine. I think that I’ve been training really smart. I ran very easy and made sure to carefully stretch after every run. I was scheduled to run 13 easy miles on Saturday and was a little concerned about how my body would react to a two hour run. On John’s suggestion, I split it up and did about 8.5 miles in the morning and the other 4.5 in the evening. It seemed to work well.
Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary and to celebrate we spent last night in a beautiful inn in Greenwich, Connecticut. It was so easy to get out there (an hour on the train) and it really felt like we were “away”. We had a wonderful dinner last night, then breakfast on the porch of our room this morning and finally took the train back home.
This weekend, I spent a little time playing on Blogger and found a bunch of other people blogging about their training in preparation for the JFK 50. I’ll have a fun time reading afuntinilla/oneingatl, Scott/I Keep Running and Miles to Run Before I Sleep.
