February 2009 was a good month. My achilles felt good all month, which meant I was able to really start ramping up the running. And more importantly, I was able to actually enjoy running again. Of course, the achilles injury – and my sometimes wonky IT band – enter my mind now and then, but for the most part I’ve been able to run without worrying about pain, tightness or injuries. Love that. I didn’t get in the pool or on the bike nearly as much as I’d planned – or as much as I needed to, given that I’m doing a half ironman in just three weeks. Oops! I know I’ll be fine, and I don’t really have goals for the day, other than to finish the race in a reasonable amount of time and try to enjoy myself. More on that as the race approaches.
I ran with the Trail Runners Club today and the last two Sundays. The pictures in today’s post are ones I took with my Blackberry during today’s run. It was a picture-perfect day, and with a better camera you’d really be able to tell! The top two pictures are from the Temescal West Ridge Trail and the bottom three are from or of the Will Rogers Backbone trail. Anyway, it was an awesome morning – the sun was shining, it wasn’t too hot or too cold, sections of the trails were muddy from yesterday’s rain, but that only made it MORE fun. It’s been really nice running with the Trail Runners Club. Thanks Billy for the intro to them! Billy also gets a photo credit for the top picture here. If you’re in LA and looking for a group to run trails with, check out their website. They run every Sunday, early morning, mostly in the Santa Monicas. They’re a fun group, all paces and goals and lots of different distances. Today there were probably 20 people at the start.

Now it’s on to March. More and more running. A trip to NYC, a trip to Mexico. A half-ironman. Here we go!
