Monthly Summary – November 2008

Weight: 173 pounds. Wow. That’s the heaviest I’ve been since I started doing these monthly summaries almost two years ago. It’s definitely not an exact science – I almost never get on a scale except for these summaries and I don’t weigh myself at the same time of day, but I also avoid weighing myself right after a big meal or a workout. Either way, it’s fine. This is a fine off-season weight for me and given the break from training that I’ve been taking (as evidenced by a 17 hour month) and the amount of food I’ve been stuffing myself with during Thanksgiving and our weekend in Boston, I’m not surprised. Once I start training again, I’ll shed the excess weight and get back down into the low 160’s for racing.
This was definitely a light month. I trained for 17 hours, and over half of that was strength training. That means I did about eight hours of cardio work this month. But I am slowly, but surely, feeling better. I’m thinking about trying to run this week. We’ll see.
We had a great Thanksgiving weekend. We drove out to Wainscott on Tuesday night. We spent Wednesday and Thursday relaxing out there. Except for trips to the pool on Wednesday and the gym on Thursday, we didn’t leave the house. Friday morning, we got on the road pretty early to head up to Boston for cousin Will’s Bar Mitzvah. We drove to Orient Point and took the ferry across the Sound. 
The weekend in Boston was fun. My whole family came in for the event, along with ton of extended family from all over the country. It was a busy weekend of Bar Mitzvah events, so we didn’t do much else, but we had a good time just hanging out with each other.
