Monthly Summary – September 2009

Here’s September 2009:

Swim: 17,090 yards
Cycling (outdoors): 63.0 miles
Cycling (indoors): 3:06 (hours)
Run: 92.9 miles
Strength Training/Yoga: 2 sessions

Approximate monthly total training/racing time: 48.75 hours

Weight: 166. A little heavier than recent months, but whatever.

September was another good month. Coming off Ironman Canada, I gave myself a couple really easy weeks and the recovery time totally paid off. I ended up with over 90 miles of running and that was just in 2/3 of the month. I had a ton of fun doing the relay at Mighty Hamptons and am proud of my race at Pt. Mugu last weekend.

After taking the first two weeks of the month off from running, I did one easy week and then have been ramping it back up in preparation for my fall races. And so far, so good. I have occasional twinges in my knee or butt/piriformis, but I think I’m keeping it under control with good warm-ups, stretching, the Trigger Point gear and a massage here and there.

If things continue going like this (fingers crossed!), it should be a good fall and winter of running.
