More new workouts
Yesterday was an off day. Although I know that I need the rest and recovery, I really feel crappy just about every day I take off, whether scheduled or not. I just feel sluggish and slow all day – and never feel like I really wake up. Yesterday was one of those days. I felt anxious and stressed and felt like my head was generally cloudy. I need to get better about relaxing on those days off or I’ll never make it through all this!
This morning I did a new swim workout, including some new drills and 300 yards of kicking (in addition to some kicking drills). Normally, I do 100 yards kicking – I definitely felt the difference today. I really felt it in my hips. I know that my swimming is a weakness and I can tell I need to get my lower body higher in the water, so this extended kicking will hopefully help that.
Tonight I rode on the trainer for about a half hour, another new workout – this one with some intervals of high RPM “sprints”. i guess it was fun. If it didn’t get dark so early, I would be able to ride outside more. Right now, though, it’s dark well before 6, and there’s just no way I’m getting through a ride (or even started) before that!
Tomorrow night I leave for Germany. I’m hoping to run at least once while I’m there, but we’ll see. I think it would be a good way to explore Nuremberg if I have a couple free hours. I get back and go straight to the Hamptons for Thanksgiving, where I know I’ll work out as much as I want.
