Running abroad

I’m in Germany. Well actually, I’m already traveling home, but since I didn’t get a chance to write while I was there, I’ll do my recap now. After watching the Ohio State-Michigan game (Go Bucks!) with Jason, Chad and Jon, I rushed to the airport for my trip to Nuremberg. The travel was fine and I actually slept a fair bit on the way over. Sunday night was a group dinner and I crashed pretty early. I had half-way hoped to get up Monday morning and run, but I knew that if I had to sleep, I had a few free hours in the afternoon and could run then.

Monday morning I did need the sleep. So I went to my meetings all morning and the first part of the afternoon. At 3PM, I bailed and went for a run. I started running along the wall around the old city, then did most of the run on these great jogging trails in a bunch of parks right near the city. It was a really nice run, and my longest since the marathon. It felt great. I don’t know how fast I ran, but I would guess it was around 7:45’s – a comfortable, easy pace that I could have kept up for a long time.

We’re spending the holiday weekend in Wainscott. I’m hoping to get in a couple good runs and a swim or two. November has been a pretty easy month – I’m getting ready to start things up again for real.
