This is recovery??
Last night I watched football and had dinner with Assaf, Rob, Ze and Berman. Josh is in town from Colorado for about a week. It was nice to see everyone, even if I was probably a little out of it.
I woke up this morning sore and tired. Running that half marathon yesterday took more out of me than I’d expected. I certainly ate a lot during the rest of the day, but in hindsight, I’m not sure that I drank enough. I had a headache in the evening and woke up with a really dry mouth this morning. I think that because a half-marathon or a three hour ride is so much shorter than my ultimate goal, maybe I forget how hard that workout is and forget that I need to really concentrate on recovery after every workout. Anyway, I drank some water, ignored the tiredness and minor aches in my legs and went for a swim.
I only swam about 1,400 yards in the 45 minutes today, but that’s mostly because I spent about 25 minutes of the workout doing drills. I did a lot of kicking, as well as fist, finger drag and catch-up drills and working on the angle of my arm entry into the water.
I’m pretty sore and tired now, which is not the best way to start a pretty tough training week. I do have nearly 24 hours off now, and I’ll try to get to be early tonight.
