We’re here!
We got into Lake Placid mid-afternoon today. My folks were already here waiting. It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon. Probably a little warmer than would be ideal for an Ironman, but great for walking around and exploring. Here’s the view of the lake from our hotel room – you can’t really see the race course buoys in this picture, but they’re there:

Charlie struggled to find a place to get comfy, but finally settled on this:

After settling into the hotel, we walked around town a bit, checked out the expo and went to say hi to Cassidy from Trigger Point.
Then I rode the first 19 miles of the bike course (down the hill to Keene, a few miles towards Jay). It felt good to ride that section of the course – there are some nice, short climbs out of town and then the big descent into Keene. I remember hitting close to 50mph on that descent last year and getting comfortable with it today will be huge in helping my fly down it on Sunday. My dad drove down and picked me up in Keene so I would have to even think about riding back up that beast of a hill.
We had a simple dinner and now, finally, it’s time to hit the sack!
