#100FewerThings. Progress!

After months and months of very little progress with my #100FewerThings goal, I finally made some progress in the last few days. It helps that I have a little extra time on my hands right now (more on that later, probably), but in truth, once I put my mind to it, it wasn’t the least bit difficult and didn’t really take that much time.

When I last reported, back on June 30, I was at 78. And had actually been moving a bit in the wrong direction. But this week, I got rid of 13 things. So, 78+13 = 91. A few of those things had been in my maybe pile for a while and it feels good to have decided to let them go. There are some things in the photo that were given to me recently and I’m just giving them away, so they don’t count on either side of the equation. Also, in addition to the items in the photo below, I sold a set of race wheels that I bought in 2007 or 2008, used in my races between then and 2011 and then haven’t touched in 5 years. They sat because I was too lazy to sell them. But once I decided to sell them, it was very easy. I didn’t get a ton of money for them, but that wasn’t my goal. They found a good home, I got a little pocket cash and they’re out of my house. Next, I have a some more bike equipment that should really follow those wheels out the door!

On another note, surgery recovery is still coming along. My back feels great and I’m able to do just about anything I want. I started swimming last week and have been getting to the pool about every other day for an easy 30-ish minute swim. I am dealing with some annoying tightness and pain in my hips and abdomen/groin similar to what I was going through this spring. If not for that, I’d probably try some running, but with that going on, I’m going to give it more time.
